BIMcollab becomes B Corp certified

BIMcollab is proud to announce that we are officially a Certified B Corporation, joining a global community of 9800+ companies committed to transforming the role of business in society. But what does this mean for BIMcollab—and for you?

What does being B Corp certified mean for BIMcollab—and for our customers?

At BIMcollab, we’re already shaping the future of construction with smart, model-based collaboration tools that make building better: less waste, fewer delays, and better decisions from design to operation. When it comes to our people, we are focused on creating value, staying close to our users, and building a culture of trust, responsibility, and long-term thinking.

“Becoming a certified B Corp was a natural next step for us when reflecting on our evolving company values,” says Erik Pijnenburg, CEO and Founder of BIMcollab. “It’s a way for us to really practice what we believe, and make our commitment to trust, sustainability, and future-proof thinking real.”

In an industry where trust is everything, we believe that it’s more important than ever to be transparent and commit to a way of working that is visible and open. This demonstrates our ongoing dedication to quality in everything we develop and launch, ensuring our customers have reliable tools and a partner they can always count on.

What is the vision behind the B Corp movement?

Being a B Corporation means a company meets “high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.” The end goal is to establish a stronger foundation for all businesses committed to creating a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative global economy.

To ensure this vision is followed by action, B Corps are legally bound to bring benefits to not only their shareholders, but all business stakeholdersemployees, customers, communities, and the environment. Ultimately, everyone benefits when companies commit to becoming (and remaining) certified.

How does a company become a B Corp?

To become a B Corp, a company undergoes an assessment based on six impact areas:

  • Governance: How can your company enhance policies and practices pertaining to its mission, ethics, accountability and transparency?
  • Workers: What can your company do to contribute towards your employees’ financial, physical, professional, and social well-being?
  • Community: What can your company do to contribute to the social and economic well-being of the communities in which it operates?
  • Environment: How can your company improve its overall environmental stewardship?
  • Customers: How can your company improve the value it creates for its direct customers?

This in-depth and holistic assessment of a company’s practices verifies that a company meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

What’s next?

Becoming a B Corp is a significant achievement. In the AEC industry, where the potential for waste and the need for trust is high at every point in the building lifecycle, this is particularly important. Completing the certification process demonstrates a desire for openness and a commitment to continuous improvement—but it’s just the first step. It is, in fact, an ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on our industry and the world in tangible, measurable ways.
